You loved your school lunch breaks, didn't you?
You threw tantrums about what you wanted for your tiffins and pestered your mum to give you the 'dabba' of your choice.
You eagerly waited to eat , counting minutes till the bell rang and there was an uproar.
Been there , done that?
Now imagine. What would happen if there were no lunch breaks?
If there wasn't any dabba given by mom?
If you had to attend school the whole day, lecture after lecture, in dire hunger?
Scary. Isn't it?
That is precisely the plight of many many children in our country. Education , one of the basic rights of a child is shrouded with a big question mark? What about food?
Having spent quite a lot of time traveling in villages up north, I have come across several children, bright eyed, eager to learn , with a desire to go to school. But courtesy their modest backgrounds, parents are hesitant. "We hardly earn enough to feed the family. Where can we shell out money for food?"
This leads to cases of child labour at a very young age and a childhood fades.
The children deprived of education (especially girls) get married at a very young age and eventually become parents of toddlers continuing the vicious cycle.
In our country where tones of Foodgrains rot in warehouses due to poor storage conditions, where affluents waste food in restaurants, in their own houses, in the very same country children die due to malnutrition.
These very children our the future of our nation. Not just education , but a healthy childhood is every child's right.
Imagine a world where parents can be rest assured that their kids will not just study but also eat at school.
Where the future of country will not tilt towards malnutrition but will study towards a healthy and successful future.
So how can we eliminate classroom hunger?
1. Lets start small.
Charity begins at home?! Yes it does. Your maid refuses to send her child to school. Tell her you will take care of her child's tiffin.
2. What can we do for the larger part of the society?
Blog! The power of the pen. Spread word. Write a post and feed a child for a year.Thats the least we bloggers can do.Join the movement. Just a simple blog post would provide meals to an Akshay Patra beneficiary for a year.
3. Akshay Patra is doing a commendable job to eliminate classroom hunger. How about being volunteers for a cause like this? What greater service than the service to feed someone!
Remember: There is a Guddi, a Nisha, a Rani in various parts of our country. No she doesn't deserve to sacrifice childhood by working as a house help. She deserves education like each one of us. She deserves a 'dabba' to eagerly wait for the bell to ring.

Thanks for the post Divyakshi :). It's great that we as bloggers can bring a small change and make young children smile :D.
Exactly. Will write another one soon :)
Personally this country needs a change I'm it's thinking only. In the mall we can spend thousands for a piece of cloth but when it's comes to do something, we scatter away. Well! There is opportunity, plans, schemes blah blah for all. But before it reaches to the doorstep 90% would be savoured up by corruption. Only we, youth can change the world we come united forgetting our petty personal issues.
Well done Divsi. Good job. :)
