Picture this:
A top American Politician is dead in a carefully Masterminded plot. A Top Indian Bank is baffled at alarming transfers from their customer's accounts. An undercover drug peddler network deals in bitcoins ( A virtual currency for a borderless world) , An Indian gaming company is caught amidst scams. So where does all this connect?
Thrillers have always been a genre I love to read. When I picked God is a Gamer I was apprehensive. Ravi Subramanian is known for his banking thrillers and me for avoiding anything remotely associated with banking, but a Ravi Subramanian book never disappoints and THIS is one of them.
A thriller mapped across countries, time zones, numerous characters and parallel plots.Gripping, fast paced and racy, holding the reader's attention all the while as reader's join the FBI agents to crack the mystery.
The reader's traverse along Mumbai-Goa-New York-Rio-de Janerio-Washington DC -New Delhi in short and crisp chapters keeping the novel racy and the readers at the edge of their seats. The stakes are extremely high and innocents are being murdered as the plot darkens.

For a second even bitcoins start to appear real as the book spins you into a web of possibilities. There are murders, scams, betrayals and romance. The author manages to keep the reader hooked right till the end.
With several characters ,each meticulously carved by the author, the reader wonders how will he tie all the threads hanging loose in the reader's brain.
There are mysteries and then there are mysteries within a mystery. God is a gamer is of the latter kind. Just when you connect all the dots and rejoice at solving the puzzle with Agents Adrian and Tony, the author has more in store.
Honestly if the author had left any thread hanging loose, the story would lose its charm, but Ravi Subramanian is a genius. Not only does he engross you in IT jargons and banking technology but also ensures you are using every grey cell to keep up with his pace.

Misses:
1.There is an overdose of misfit love scenes.

The book is a brilliant read. The research and efforts of the author to explain bitcoins and IT terminology even to laymen is commendable. Not once does it get too technical or boring!
The author has created each character with a defined role and the title "God is a Gamer" subtly portrays how a single person can mastermind a web of criminal activities.

I devoured the book in 1 day. You just cannot keep it down!
And when I finally finish the book and shut it, four words shining on the cover catch my attention instantly, " Is revenge a crime?"
Realisation dawns and I understand why that is on the first page. Of course I won't tell you why.
