its peculiar...they re simply lying there..year after year...you look at them, rearrange them and look at them again only wen u so-called clean your closet again...
the rusty cup u won for the elocution competition in school-silver but now completely black..reminding u of the innumerous practice sessions where you forced evryone at home to lisen to yr speech..that even they by-hearted it...
the rustier "PREFECT" badge, reminding you of days where you checked students polished shoes and well trimmed nails..
the 27 year old teddy..[whose nose is a little loose nowadays] ..your sister's childhood buddy..then yours too...
the hymn book where you jotted yr school hymns in broken handwriting..bringing back singing sessions with the school's head nun...
"this little guiding light of mine...i m goin to let it shine.." and " make god your guru..let him tell you what to do.."
the sweater you wore when you were six months old..sitting haughtily in your mum's arms...
knitted by granny...
the apron you stitched on yourown[ with utmost difficulty] for passing in the dreadful subject called CRAFT, which the teacher looked upon with half sarcasm half amusement, before marking a 35 on her assessment sheet;)
the handmade cards of your school frens..given for evry occasion..diwali..bday..holi..new year..xmas..friends whom you have lost touch with...
the red checked uniform that you wore evryday....now wishing that you fit into it jus once again...
the pebbles you collected from the riverbed of ganga, almost drowning yourself in shoulder deep water jus bcoz yr geography teacher taught you bout river pebbles...
the chits that you recieved in a fish-pond game that were meant for you---- for how you are...
for how you should be...
these keep reveries alive..these take us back in time..once in a while...to relive odysseys..to walk again in memory lanes...right from kindergarden i-cards..to std one report cards..to the best sister medal gifted by your sis from her first salary..to the worn-out ghoonroos you used for kathak dance practice..to withered paint brushes..dried water colours..or simply your school house badge..you marched with on the sports day...
for the world these things may be rusted..old...unusable or junk..but not for you..
coz some old things just cant be put away:):)
