Right from school days...I-day was a day of gr8 importance...firstly for the holiday, secondly for the fun @ the school parade..laughin @ the NCC cadets marchin left...right...left!!turning a deaf ear to d princi's loooooooonnnng speech..
"WE Need to safeguard our freedom..give it a thought...contemplate...ALL WE NEED IS A SPARK!!"
back then in the primary days it seemed so monotonous..so repetitive..
we were always so satisfied with the one samosa and one laddu given..that we never bothered to indulge in details...simply sang the songs given and marched bk home..
and then sum years later...came a movie..."the legend of Bhagat Singh" which left a deep impact..that I-day was more than the compulsory attendance @ flag hoisting..more than the samosas or the laddus given...
it aroused a unique emotion-"towering respect for those who gave their lives..."
then came the Kargil war,one after the other bomb attacks...9/11..events around the world, the good the evil all suddenly started an awakening...it led to an urge to do sumthing..
and suddenly I-day had a new meaning..the flag pinned to our uniforms in secondaryschool days became a priceless treasure..& the FIRE in our so called"youthful" souls understood the true meaning of "PATRIOTISM"!!
it has to come frm within..the respect, the undying love, the pride..and the contemplation to value our freedom!
the need of the hour is to be together..to be alert frm the masked, unknown enemy..
the need of the hour is NOT to sit back and play the blame game...
but to join in the revolution to win against the evil..both INSIDE as well as OUTSIDE our country..
what we all need is filling our hearts with pride and our intellects with the will do sumthing worthwhile...
and yes a little bit of the RANG DE BASANTI syndrome will do the trick;)
just remember : the fire of patriotism inside us will be a hundred times stronger than the fire of revenge and hatred inside our enemies!!!!!!
now those words of my principal are injected with a new understanding....
"GIVE IT A THOUGHT....CONTEMPLATE....
ALL WE NEED IS A SPARK!!!"

But its always good to know that people like you are realising what is indepndence and are feeling internal urge to do something about this country...
Let us all Value our hard earned Independence and respect the freedom fighters and soldiers who have given their lives to protect us. Jai Hind.
