#98

A dark room.
Devoid of noise.
A young boy of eight.
Cursing his ill fate.
Festival of lights.
Sleepless nights.
Working endlessly
to brighten someone's Diwali day
While his future is at stake.
What trade-off is this?
A few hours of brightness
in exchange for a lifetime of darkness?

I gave up lighting firecrackers at the age of 10.
An old poem I wrote to urge people to stop bursting crackers.
There are brighter, better ways to celebrate Diwali.
