i walked a scorching summer afternoon amongst a herd of people..ppl bargaining..ppl hurrying to office..and some just walking aimlessly..
as i covered my face from the monstrous sun...i saw a lady...one hand full of bags..and the other hand balancing her baby..
i wished a wish: to go back in time and see my mum, holding me the way this lady held hers...
i wished i could see myself-clenching mum's dupatta..peacefully rested my head on her shoulders and snoring away to glory..
i loooked at the baby with a certain amount of envy...she din't know a thing!!
she din't know the weight of the bags her mum was carrying...she was unaware of her mum's tensions & anxities...she din't even know the difficulty of balancing her and giving her a sound sleep even amongst the chaos of the world...
there she was--FULL SURRENDER!
i looked at her mum..anxious..apprehensive...but her face brightening up when the baby twitches her nose while sleeping...
thats how mums are.........endlessly loving us...cooking for us...bearing our tantrums...listening to us...first yelling at us..then feeling sorry for yelling;) ...worrying for us...praying for us...just simply being there for us!!
and the IRONY is....we '' always give them material gifts...lol...come mothers day and we shower them with gifts..cards..bouquets...splendid lunches..and what not!!
"i wonder how ONE day..just one, single day is enough to celebrate this angel called "mother"..
my mum smiles coyly when i ask her what gift she wamts this year.."i want you to clean yr room!" i sigh..."i ll do it...temme sumthing else..."
AND then i realise...no amount of material things can bring more pleasure to a mom's heart the way an abstract promise..feeling..or behaviour will...! honestly..wat was god thinking when he made mothers..????
and one fine day...the small baby who was peacefully snoring on his mum's shoulders...grows up..wakes up..and starts exploring the world....struts with the little knowlegde he has.. and starts affirming that he knows better..
strange- we children can never love our mums the way our mums luv us:)
i wish there was a mechanism- where each n evry child cud go back in time....just once in their lifetime and see the pains their mums underwent while bringing them up...just as a reminder: that whatever we are , however we are its coz of the undying love and dedication of that one woman- who is the reason for our being and existence in this world!!

Aptly said divsi,
A child can never reciprocate the same kinda love for its mom...The only gift we could ever gift our moms is "happiness" by standing by their expectations& morever by being a good human being in life:)
hey divya very true yaar...... moms never demand nething frm us instead happily sacrifices everything 4 us........ dey stand by ur side thru ur good & bad phase of life......i wonder how she manages everyone at home at d same time keeps all of us happy. hats off 2 r moms!!!!!!

Very touching.. So rightly put.. I dnt need to go back in time what mom has done for me. I know she's been thru alot, and i dont want to see her going thru the same again..
